Rose Valley
Destination "The Rose Valley" for wine and culinary tourism is a part of the Bulgarian Sub-Balkan Viticultural Region, Rose Valley.
The Rose Valley is located in
the center of the country immediately south of the Balkan. It’s surrounded by
mountains, so it’s protected from extreme temperatures.
This region is
especially known for the cultivation of roses. The famous Bulgarian Rosa
Damascena is considered to be the best in the world. The Rose Valley produces
85% of the world’s supply of rose oil.
The valley is mostly famous for its dry
whites. Misket Rouge (Cherven Misket) is the distinctive local grape of the
region, but Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Rkaziteli are also produced.
